If you’ve ever looked around your home and felt it could use a little more life, color is often the missing piece. One of the easiest ways to transform a space is by infusing it with color—and you don’t need to commit to painting walls or a full renovation to do it.

After exploring the latest trends at High Point Market, I came back inspired by the endless possibilities to bring color into your home in a fresh, stylish, and approachable way. Below are some of my favorite ideas (and real market finds!) to help you get started.

1. Layer in Color with Accessories

Accessories are the quickest and least permanent way to bring in a pop of color.

At High Point, I fell in love with ceramic vases in hues like vibrant yellow and deep emerald green, which look stunning on a coffee table or bookshelf. I also spotted layered throw pillows in bold patterns—mixing textures like velvet and linen creates depth, even in neutral rooms.

Designer Tip: Use colorful vases and pillows to effortlessly add personality to your space. Mix textures and bold hues to create contrast, and don't be afraid to layer patterns for a collected, designer look.

2. Make a Statement with Art

Art is one of the most personal—and impactful—ways to introduce color.

I discovered a collection of colorful modern coastal pieces that can anchor an otherwise quiet room. Even a small colorful piece above a console table or in a hallway adds character and vibrancy.

Designer Tip: Group smaller colorful pieces into a gallery wall for a playful, curated look.

3. Choose Upholstered Pieces That Speak

While neutral sofas are timeless, upholstered accent chairs or ottomans are perfect places to have a little fun.

One of my favorite pieces from the market were these fun upholstered chairs that can be used for dining or with a game table —a striking focal point with a neutral table. I also saw jewel-toned benches in moody emerald and rust tones that double as seating and sculpture.

Designer Tip: Start with one colorful upholstered piece in a room. It should contrast with your existing palette without clashing.

4. Ground the Space with a Colorful Rug

A rug can tie a room together—and be the unexpected burst of color that wakes up the space.

I was especially drawn to hand-knotted rugs in watercolor-inspired palettes and geometric designs. Whether traditional or modern, a rug adds warmth and an artful anchor.

Designer Tip: If your room is mostly neutral, choose a rug with multiple colors that can guide your selection of accessories and art.
